Chapter 2

The entire hall was in a mayhem, students running around all over the place, knocking over the large wooden chairs lining each of the four long tables. The first-years, in particular, were the noisiest, and the older students looked upon them in distaste as they chatted about the newest developments between whoever concerned them. Louise was the only one not participating in this social session - she was preoccupied on considering what was going to happen later on, and who the Fire Wizard from yesterday was.

Just as she thought that, the hall quietened down; a cold aura had suddenly entered the room. Turning, Louise gasped. It was him again! She tried to consider whether to approach him, but his silence discouraged her. He seemed to have an invisible barrier, because every time he took a step, the crowd parted and reformed when he took another step. Even the first-years were glancing around, confused at why everyone stopped doing whatever they were doing. Even after the wizard had taken his seat, silence still prevailed. The whole hall was unmoving except for the leaves visible through the open door, waving in the cool morning wind.

"Next!" The instructor called out. From the darkness of the tower shadow, a figure stepped up. AGAIN?. The Fire Wizard merely raised his staff and whispered, "Servant of Hell, come to me." The ground rumbled for the next minute, before a large crack appeared between him and the others; he was now standing on majority of the large field, looking intently at the instructor, separated from him by that fissure which was now emitting great amounts of smoke. From within, a large hell-hound leapt out, resembling but not exactly the legendary Cerebus that guarded the entrances of Hell. The instructor raised an eyebrow but said nothing except "next". Whispering erupted as Louise stepped up; the instructions came again. "Remember, say clearly what qualities you wish your servant to have."

"I summon the one whose power is unrivaled!" For the next five seconds, everyone stood in stunned silence, and then another bout of whispering. The instructor tried to conceal his disappointment as he commented, "You should try aga-" Before he completed his utterance, a pentagon appeared in midair; everyone knelt down from the sheer pressure of the mana coming from within... almost everyone. The Fire Wizard remained passive, although he did seem surprised at the sudden surge of magic power.

What happened next shocked everyone...

At that moment...

"Whew, that was close!" Saito panted, and looked up. The tree had been stopped by the others around it; the branches barely brushed the top of the tent. He didn't care much for the gigantic plant, but rather the thing that had displaced it. A blue pentagonal star... what could almost be called a stigma. It resembled a portal, except that it wasn't a blue circle... He reached for it, and gasped - it was burning hot, almost as if an inferno was raging within. All that time, Alexis had been silent, and she now raised the sword sheathed at her back. Saito gasped - it was the first time he'd seen such a perfectly crafted sword; everything from the hilt to the blade-tip looked like it was casted silver, and the edges were sharp; even looking at it caused pain in the eyes. What was even more surprising was that a girl was able to wield it as a weapon - from what it looked like, it was at least four kilograms in weight.

Alexis swung the sword lightly and it crashed straight into the edges of the star; a loud ringing sound proceeded to fill Saito's ears, and he knelt to the ground. That ring... it was as if all the energy had been sucked out of him and displaced into the air; the leaves rustled loudly. Wind started filling the trees as Alexis started to swing her sword again; before Saito could see the action completed, a glow had surrounded him.

---

Alexis gasped. She was about to hit the portal again, but it had suddenly emitted a ray of blue light and enveloped Saito; before she could do anything about it, they vanished - it was as if the portal had never been there. The same went for Saito.

AN: Yeah, rip'd from Zero again.

"She summoned a HUMAN?!" That seemed to be the general topic of the commotion that had happened shortly after the sigil had disappeared and a Warrior tossed onto the ground before her. Even the instructor seemed surprised; beside the Warrior lay a sword that seemed to radiate nothing but power. Before anyone could say anything, storm clouds began to gather.

If anyone bothered to read Ch 1 at all, they'd know about the storm clouds.

The Dark Lord valiantly tried to fight against the armored dragons that were now beseiging him; outnumbered a thousand to one, even his ungodly speed couldn't prevent him from getting cuts; all through this time, the central Cornian hadn't tried to attack him at all - it were as if it... or he... wanted to watch the fun. Gritting his teeth, the head of thieves swore. "I'm not letting you get your way." As he leapt towards the giant creature, a roar erupted from the cave beyond; the Cornian seemed to leer, and started speaking. "It is... too late. He has awoken." From the bowels of the Cave of Life came the sound of a crystal cracking.
